I don't agree with you on that.

Normally I'm a teachers pet, but she's a really rude person.

Or at least she comes across that way towards me.

ok i know i'm a bit late hear but i fucking hate proofs they are the dumbest thing ever i know that a=a and if a=b then b =a and b=b io don't need to fucking no some technical term for it

and my teacher is stupid

when noone in the class knows what is going on and we tell her we don't understand she says "oh i know that you know what your doing"

"no we don't "

"yes you do now no more questions and do the work "

ok, sorry about sounding like an annoying adult on this one:

you never know what "stupid" things you learn in school end up being applicable to your life later on. for example, i didn't think much of geometry either. guess what? i have used pi and herons formula sooooo many times in my adult life, especially in my last job that i had for seven years. i even used herons formula to figure out a volume equation for a tractor bucket to help figure the cost we should charge customers for loads of topsoil, etc. the rest of the staff said there is no way to figure it out, so i did. i admit i have never used proofs but it is the thought process you will benefit from.

remember grade school, including high school, is to teach you HOW to think. the real thinking begins in the second or third year of college and in life for problem solving.

ok, adultism over.

i see where cap'n is coming from, and I agree, but I get that you are just trying to vent. I hate teachers that are just there for a job, and not because they care about kids, helping them learn, or doing anything to make their students' lives better.

Proofs are not going to ever pop up again (I'm in a high level math...and I hate it, but point is, you wont use them), but the fact that you write down onto paper the process that you had in your brain is important to understand how to do.

I know how you must feel I hated geometry proofs, and I wish that school could teach that skill another way...

Good luck with your teacher and getting through the class, and also, just remember, you are over halfway there Smile

Saddly there are more and more "teachers" like this now... it's just another job for them. I see it all the time, and they will straight up tell you it'sjust another job....It's sad really

i agree with were you guys are coming from. After about the first few chapters i started to get it, and it wasn't that bad. Proofs sort of disappear once you get to like the trig unit. I've learned to deal with our teacher, each teacher just has there way of doing it. She still makes me mad on occasion, but what i've learned to do is (idk if this helps you nick), i learned that the people around me have like the same problem so you can just simple be like "hey ____ what did you get on number 12" and compare answers. Or sometimes i'll be like "hey, on number 16 do you have to use..... to get your answer?"

You just have to know that it's not just you. Though i will tell you, i still get pissed when she gives us three lessons in one class period, plus algebra crap because it's on the freaking state assessment. :sigh: oh well, what are you going to do.
