So given Warner Bros.' announcement to leave HD-DVD and switch to Blue-ray, which leaves HD-DVD with only 2 studios (Paramount and Universal) supporting them, do you think there's any chance HD DVD will survive?
Sure, entry-level HD-DVD player prices has been slashed, but is this their last attempt at a comeback....

So what format would you put your money on?

As for the debate here, I think that Blu-ray will totally come out on top, assuming the HD formatting of DVDs stays "current".

To me, it seems like with how fast technology is advancing, actual hard copies of movies will be gone before long, and downloadable movies in HD format will become popular. That's just a guess on my part, but I would think that with the increasing connectivity between TVs and computers, it could become reality just as soon as Blu-ray could become actually popular.

I have a blu-ray player, and it's totally awesome, but think how much better it would be if you could shop for movies from your TV, click on the title you want, then watch it 5 minutes later in full HD quality. You could have it saved on a hard-drive in the back of the TV, so you would be able to take it to other people's houses and other TVs.

Now THAT would be cool.

Just a thought, and a guess, based on what I've heard from E3 this year...

i honestly don't know the difference nore do i car at the moment but i very rarly even hear about blu-ray and i always here about hd so if it goes by that then hd but i dn't know

anyway it does not matter all technology is out dated within 6 mounth's to a year any way

i just like to hold the dvd up to the sun and see if i can tell what's on it
